The 2023 annual report shows a year of progress and empowerment for women in Nepal. Through its innovative initiatives and dedicated efforts, 6 Degrees is making a lasting impact on the lives of women.

Soap Studio
One of the notable achievements of the year was the set up of the Soap Studio, where women were trained in professional cold pressed soap making by biochemist Asif Ahmad. This training not only provided them with valuable skills, but also a source of income and independence. The production and delivery of the first order of 500 bars of soap was an important milestone in their journey to financial independence.

Furthermore, the Eco Farm saw remarkable growth and development, thanks to the support and guidance of Ramila Dhakal from Aqysta. Her expertise and assistance played a crucial role in making the Eco Farm more profitable and sustainable, which will benefit the women involved in the long term.

Difficult decision
The year brought many successes, but also challenges. The decision to shut down the paper mill was difficult, but necessary. The women who worked in the paper mill have moved on to other initiatives supported by 6 Degrees and our local partner SVSI, demonstrating their resilience and adaptability.

The financial strength of 6 Degrees Network for Women is reflected in its balance sheet and income statement for 2023. 

Partnerships
The focus remains on creating lasting impact through job creation, partnerships and training programmes and the priority for 2024 will be on further developing the Soap Studio. “We remain committed to empowering women to realise their full potential. Difficult decisions sometimes need to be made, but challenges are there to be overcome,” explains Debbie.

“The continued support of sponsors, donors, volunteers and team members is very important. We would like to thank everyone for their contribution over the past year,” Gita adds. Together with Debbie, she is the beating heart of the 6 Degrees.
